Comparison
Introductory price versus ongoing price
This page describes how our service and its pricing work and makes no clinical statement, so it carries no clinical review. Last updated 2026-10-07.
Will the price of a weight-management plan go up after the first month?
It will if the first month was an introductory price, and that gap is the most common reason people in this category report an unexpected charge: the remembered price is the introductory one and the billed price is the ongoing one.
The questions that settle it are what month two costs, what month twelve costs, and the date the first of those is charged.
TRD Labs does not run an introductory price. The plan price is the same from the first month, and a prepaid plan costs less per month because it is prepaid rather than because it is a trial.
Why the first month is cheap
A low first month is a legitimate way to reduce the cost of trying something. It is also the single most common reason people in this category report a charge they did not expect: the price they remember is the introductory one and the price they are billed is the ongoing one.
Regulators have treated the gap between the two as a disclosure problem rather than a pricing one. The fix is not a cheaper second month; it is saying what the second month costs before anyone pays for the first.
What to ask
Three questions: what does month two cost, what does month twelve cost, and on what date is the first of those charged. Written down, before you pay.
Our position
We do not run an introductory price. The plan price is the plan price from the first month, and a prepaid plan is cheaper because it is prepaid rather than because it is a trial. This costs us some conversions and removes an entire category of complaint.
The first payment is authorised at checkout and captured after a clinician approves a treatment, so there is no introductory charge sitting on your card while a review happens.
Questions
- Do you offer a discounted first month?
- No. The price is the same from the first month. A prepaid three-month plan costs less per month because it is paid up front.
- Will my price change while I am on a plan?
- Not during a period you have already paid for. If a price changes for a future period we tell you before that period is charged.
- When is the first payment taken?
- It is authorised at checkout and captured after a clinician approves a treatment. If no prescription is written, the authorisation is released.
