Question

Why a consultation may not be available in your state

This page describes how our service and its pricing work and makes no clinical statement, so it carries no clinical review. Last updated 2026-10-07.

Why can a telehealth service not treat patients in some states?

A clinician may only review and prescribe for a patient in a state where that clinician holds a licence, so where a service has no licensed clinician for a state there is nobody who can legally see the patient. No waiting period, sign-up or upgrade changes that.

A service should therefore ask which state a person is in early, because the answer can end the process.

TRD Labs asks on the second screen, offers to email when availability changes, and does not ask for payment details or continue the questionnaire after answering no.

The reason is licensing

A clinician may only review and prescribe for a patient in a state where they hold a licence. When our clinical partner has no licensed clinician for your state, there is nobody who can legally see you, and that is not something a waiting period or an upgrade resolves.

What we do about it

We tell you on the screen where you enter your state, which is the second question rather than the eighth. We offer to email you if that changes, and we do not ask for payment details.

We do not continue the questionnaire first. Collecting the rest of your answers before telling you we cannot serve you would extract your data in exchange for nothing.

Some states also have their own rules

Separately from licensing, several states have named laws governing telehealth prescribing or consumer health data. The state pages name the specific statute where we have verified one, and say so plainly where we have not.

Questions

Can I sign up anyway and wait?
No, and we will not take a payment to put you on a list. We will email you if availability changes.
Why do you ask my state so early?
Because the answer can end the process, and a "no" should cost you as little as possible.
